How Is Spondylolisthesis Diagnosed?
The first imaging studies chosen for the diagnosis of spondylolisthesis are direct X-ray films. Computed Tomography, which shows the bony structures in the lumbar region more clearly, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which can show the soft tissues of the spine (nerve structures and the discs between the vertebrae) and the relationship of these tissues with the fracture or, if present, the slippage area, may also be requested.
