What Are the Symptoms of Spondylolisthesis?

Since most patients with spondylolisthesis do not have any complaints, they may not notice the condition. Sometimes it may be detected incidentally on a lumbar X-ray taken for another reason. However, the most common symptoms seen in spondylolisthesis are;

This is the most common symptom seen in spondylolisthesis.

  • Lower Back And Hip Pain

This occurs when the nerve (sciatic nerve) that continues from the back of the hip down the leg is compressed at the nerve roots in the lumbar vertebrae. The pain may radiate from the hip down to the heel.

  • Sciatica (leg pain)

It does not occur all the time; it is an indication that the pressure on this nerve is significant and that the nerve has been damaged.

  • Numbness and weakness

It usually occurs in the lower part of the leg and in the foot.

  • Tingling

This usually occurs in the muscles controlled by the affected nerve. It may also be in the lower back and appear in the form of spasm.

  • Cramp
