What Are the Symptoms of Hydrocephalus?

In Newborns (0-2 Months)

Excessive enlargement of the head, thinning of the scalp, prominence of the veins on the head, vomiting, irritability, downward deviation of the eyes, seizures, or inability to communicate.

In Children (2 Months and Older)

Abnormal enlargement of the head, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, double vision, irritability, regression in walking or speech, communication problems, loss of sensory-motor functions, seizures. In older children, difficulty staying awake or waking up may also be seen.

In Middle-Aged Adults

Headache, difficulty waking up or staying awake, balance problems, urinary incontinence, personality changes, dementia, visual impairment

In Older Adults

Communication problems, imbalance while walking, difficulty remembering, headache, urinary incontinence.
