Causes of Ulnar Groove Syndrome

Causes of Ulnar Groove Syndrome

Because the nerve lies over a bone and is covered by a very thin protective soft tissue layer, increased pressure may cause the nerve to become compressed. For this reason, the nerve may be subjected to pressure in people who work at a desk for long periods, in those who constantly place pressure on the inner part of the elbow, or in those who have the habit of keeping the elbow bent for a long time because the keyboard is too close. If these problems continue for a long time, numbness and pain may become permanent. Sometimes, the connective tissue covering the groove through which the nerve passes on the inner side of the elbow may also thicken and compress the nerve.
